Inside the Box-Scores: Admirals Salvage One Victory Against the Snipes

Due to a game in which was previously rained out and it being rescheduled when the two teams were to expected face each other again, the Admirals and the Lexington Snipes had the daunting task of completing three games on Saturday.

It was a long day for the Admirals, but they managed to win one of those three contests as they continue to fight their way in the last playoff spot in the MCL.

  • All-stars Justin Kovalsky and Alec Barnhart combined for 4-7 while scoring two runs. Kovalsky raised his batting average to .414 while Barnhart sits at .327 while he recorded his fourth double on the year.
  • The Admirals continue to be dangerous when they have runners on the base-paths as Jermaine Terry swiped his seventh stolen base on the season.
  • Logan Fleener recorded his 33rd assist which is the most on the team.
  • Pitcher Brock Borgeson continues to be stellar out the bullpen as he lowered his ERA to an even 2.00 as he struck out one batter during his appearance in today’s game.

  • Javier Martinez smacked his first home run on the season while going 3-4 with one RBI and one run scored on the day.  Martinez also had two doubles on the day.
  • Despite only going 1-3, All-Star Jeff Evak scored three times and he recorded his either stolen base on the season.
  • Starting pitcher Doug Hayes pitched well for a chance at the win as he had his second consecutive quality start as he hurled four innings, yielding only four hits while giving up one earned run, and striking out five.

  • All-Star Quinn Ahern recorded his sixth consecutive quality start in the victory over the Snipes.  Ahern went five innings, scattered nine hits while giving up one run, and striking out seven.
  • All-Star Brian Donely’s ERA stays perfect as it sits without a blemish at 0.00.  He came in for relief for Ahern throwing two scoreless innings and striking out two.
  • Alec Barnhart smashed his second home run on the season.  He finished 2-4  with a double and two runs batted in.
  • Kovalsky and Barnhart were an absolute headache for the Snipes pitchers as they combined for 4-8 at the top of the order.
  • Michael Diviesti single plated two.
  • The Admirals were flawless on defense as the committed zero errors.
