The Joliet Admirals faced adversity right from the get-go to start the season. They lost their first three games but bounced back immediately and won the next three, which shows the type of mettle this team has. They lost the following contest to the then-undefeated DuPage Hounds to take them to 3-4 in the young season. The Admirals are currently in the midst of a six-day stretch of off days before traveling to Whiting, Ind. June 13 to face the Northwest Indiana Oilmen, but before looking forward, here’s a review of the first two weeks of Admirals baseball:
5/29 Southland Vikings 6 at Joliet Admirals 2
Top Performers: Quinn Ahern – Quality start, 6 innings pitched, 0 earned runs, 2 strikeouts; Kwynn Rury – 1 for 4, stolen base
Quote of the Game: “He’s a no.1, no.2 starter at his junior college, so I knew coming into the season I could rely on him. He did a great job today. I was very proud of him.” – Coach Jorge Garza on starting pitcher Quinn Ahern’s opening-day start.
5/30 Northwest Indiana Oilmen 13 at Joliet Admirals 2
Top Performers: Jermaine Terry – 3 for 4, triple, 2 RBIs; Alec Barnhart – 1 for 2, 2 walks, run scored; Eric Littler – 2 innings pitched, 1 hit, 2 strikeouts, 2 walks
Quote of the Game: “Just relaxed. Yesterday, I was a little tense, tightened up, but today I came out ready.” – Jermaine Terry on going 3 for 4 with an RBI triple after going hitless on opening day.

Quote of the Game: “We worked in [batting practice] going the other way, barreling some balls up, and I started to feel my swing again today during BP. I got a couple good fastballs to hit, and then my third at-bat, I just threw my hands.” – Logan Fleener about his approach on his perfect night at the plate.
6/1 Chicago Zephyrs 2 at Joliet Admirals 3
Top Performers: Brock Borgeson – 7 innings pitched (CG), 3 hits, 2 walks, 8 strikeouts; Michael Kendrick – 1 for 2, double, walk, run scored; Jermaine Terry – 1 for 3, game-winning run from walk-off balk.
Quote of the Game: “If I were to complain about it or say we lucked out, I got to skip over that because I’d take a first win any way we could get it. It’s nice to get it off our backs.” – Brock Borgeson on the walk-off balk that gave the Admirals win no. 1.
